Airbus A330 MRTT is a benchmark of multi role tanker and transport (MRTT). As a transport, it can carry up to more than three hundreds passengers or carry 70 tons of cargo. It was introduced on January 1994 which entering production phase on 1992 and it is still produced now. From its first production, A330 has already produced about almost 1.400 units. It is marketed around US$238.5 to US$264.2 Million per unit. Some countries employ this Airbus A330 as Turkish Airlines (as the biggest operator), Air China, China Eastern Airlines, and China Southern Airlines.
Airbus A330 is equipped by three choices of engine types. It would be different each engine type with the variants applied. Those choices are General Electric CF6, Pratt and Whitney PW4000, and Rolls Royce Trent 700, where, General electric CF6 adds a conic core exhaust nozzle, Pratt and Whitney PW4000 has unmixed exhaust, and Rolls Royce uses an exhaust mixer. Based on the time and technology development, A330 keeps growing with some development and variants. Its newest variant is A330neo (New Engine Option). Here, it employs modern engines developed for Boeing 787 and firstly launched in 2014.
A330 is a medium sizewith wide body airliner and applies two engines suspended on pylons under the wings. The wing is swept back at 30 degree with very thickness to chord ratio as a long span it has. In cockpit area, it uses glass cockpit flight deck layout featured by electronic instrument displays. Besides, it is competed by three primary and two secondary flight control systems. The most impressive from this MRTT is that A330 can do aerial refueling for some other jets. It can carry 111 tons of fuel completed by two pods for this refueling, thus this A330 does not need to fly back to take additional fuel.
