US General: There Is No Military Option Decision If Syria Use Chemical Weapons

Photo: Washington Post – A High General of the United States (US) said that there had been no decision on military options if Syria really used chemical weapons.

Reporting from Reuters on Saturday (08/09/2018), This was stated by Marine General Joseph Dunford, US Joint Chiefs of Staff in his statement to the media.

He also said that he was involved in a regular dialogue with US President Donald Trump about the alleged plot.

“But we are in dialogue, regular dialogue, with the president to make sure he knows where we are regarding planning if chemical weapons are used,” he said.

“He expects us to have military options and we have given him an update on the development of military options,” he added.

Dunford refused to comment on US intelligence statements about Syria preparing a chemical weapons attack.

Asked if there was still a chance that the attack on Idlib could be avoided, Dunford said: “I don’t know if there is anything that can stop it.”

“This is certainly disappointing but it may not be (surprising) that Russia, Turkey and Iran cannot find a solution yesterday,” he said.
