atynews.com – United States Secretary of State (US), Mike Pompeo is reported to be returning to North Korea (North Korea).

Reporting from Yonhap, Wednesday (08/08/2018), This was conveyed by the US National Security Adviser, John Bolton in a statement.

In the report, this meeting was linked to the process of dismantling North Korea’s nuclear weapons program in the country.

President Donald Trump has made a proposal in his last letter to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. The letter was handed over to North Korea’s Foreign Minister during last week’s regional meeting in Singapore. Pompeo also took part in the meeting.

“Foreign Minister Mike Pompeo is ready to return to North Korea to meet with Kim Jong-un. We have proposed that in our latest letter from the president to Kim Jong-un,” Bolton explained.

According to reports, Pompeo has made three trips to North Korea. On his first two trips, he met Jong-un and laid the foundation for the first meeting between a US and North Korean leader.

Trump and Jong-un held a historic meeting in Singapore in June which resulted in a joint statement calling on the North Korean leader to work towards a comprehensive denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. In return, the US is committed to providing security guarantees to the Pyongyang regime.

Pompeo made a third trip to Pyongyang after a summit to perfect the deal, but reportedly made little progress in adding details of the denuclearization plan.

According to reports from the North Korean monitoring site, the country has also continued the process of destroying one of North Korea’s nuclear test sites.
