atynews.com – The US Government of Seriakt (US) is reported to have reunited more than 1,800 immigrant children with their families.
Reported from the BBC, Saturday (28/07/2018), This was stated by Chris Meekins, from the Department of Health and Human Services.
This figure is a composite of 1442 children who were met with their parents in immigration custody and 378 others who were released in “decent conditions”, the court documents said.
However, more than 700 children declared no criteria to meet their parents again. The number includes 431 children whose parents are no longer in the US.
As reported earlier, more than 2,500 immigrant children have been separated from their parents who entered the United States without official documents.
The move comes after the US government adopted a ‘zero tolerance’ policy against illegal immigration at the border with Mexico.
But this move is sharply criticized in the US. Both the public and the officials who call this is an act of “intolerance” to immigrants.
The US Federal Judge in San Diego, Dana Sabraw, stipulates that all children detained under President Donald Trump’s government policy must be reunited with their families by July 26 at the latest.
“We fulfill the deadline set by the court, by bringing together parents who meet the criteria in ICE custody,” said Chris Meekins.
