Iraq: We Can Buy S-400 Russia if Needed

“We say we can buy the S-400 system, if necessary, but no final decision has been made so far, there has been no formal talks with the Russians,” he said.

When Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari made a visit to Moscow in February 2018, he said that his country wanted to buy the anti-aircraft missile system.

The Russian S-400 Triumph, named by the NATO SA-21 Growler, is the latest long-range anti-aircraft missile system that came into use in 2007.

The system is designed to destroy aircraft and ballistic missiles, including medium range missiles.

This air defense system is claimed to be able to detect targets at distances up to 600 kilometers at this time.
