atynews.com – The Australian government has reportedly stopped funding for the Palestinian Authority (PA), which is of considerable value.
Reported from ABC, Tuesday (3/7/2018), it was delivered directly by Australian Foreign Minister, Julie Bishop in a press statement.
Australia’s biggest reason for dismissing their grants is that it is used to pay Palestinians convicted of political violence.
He detailed the discontinued funding assistance is the funds handed over to the World Bank’s Multi-Donor Trust Fund for the Palestinian Recovery and Development Program.
“I am convinced that previous Australian funding to PA through the World Bank has been used appropriately, but I am concerned that in providing funding for this aspect of PA operations, there is an opportunity for them to use their budgets for activities that will never be supported by Australia,” Bishop.
He said, Any help given by Palestinians to those convicted of political violence is an affront to Australia, Palestine and Israel.
“Any assistance provided by the Palestine Liberation Organization to those convicted of politically motivated violence is an affront to Australian values and undermines the prospect of a meaningful peace between Israel and the Palestinians,” he continued.
