atynews.com – The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) says it is ready if requested by North Korea or the United States to assist in the denuclearization process.

Quoted from Sputnik on Tuesday (6/13/2018), it was delivered directly by the Director General of IAEA, Yukiya Amano in a press statement.

Amano also said the IAEA welcomed the dialogue which resulted in a denuclearization agreement between the US and North Korea.

“I welcome the Joint Statement of President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un at a meeting in Singapore that includes North Korea’s commitment to the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula,” Yukiua said.

If asked directly by the relevant countries, the IAEA will officially support the process.

“The IAEA is ready to conduct verification activities in the North that may be requested by the countries concerned, subject to authorization by the IAEA Board of Governors,” he continued.

Yukiya added that the organization he leads will follow the talks between the US and the next North on the implementation of the agreement reached during the historic meeting in Singapore.

As is known, Kim Jong-un agreed with Donald Trump to settle denuclearization in exchange for security guarantees. The agreement is contained in a joint statement signed by both.
